New National Women’s Ministries Director

The National Women’s Ministries Department announces Kay Burnett as our new National Women’s Ministries Director. Kay’s duties began August 1, 2016, and she will be full-time in the national office by October 1, as she transitions from the Arizona District.

Kerry Clarensau, our previous national Women’s Ministries Director, transitioned with her husband Mike to the North Texas District where Mike is serving as Dean of the College of Bible and Church Ministries at Southwestern Assemblies of God University and Kerry is now serving as North Texas District Women’s Ministries Director. We deeply appreciate Kerry’s love for ministry to women, and pray for her ministry to the women of Texas!

We invite you to get acquainted with Kay:

Kay Burnett was born and raised in Ajo, Arizona, a small copper mining town in southern Arizona, located only 40 miles from the country of Mexico. Her home was near Organ Pipe National Monument. Her family moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, in Kay’s junior year of high school.

The next year-Kay’s high school senior year-she met and began dating Jim Burnett. “We have been married now for 36 very short and amazing years this November,” she states. Jim and Kay have a son, Tyler, who is married to Megan, and a daughter Leandra, who is married to Rusty. The Burnetts have four wonderful grandchildren. Tyler and Megan have three daughters, Brynna, 13, Aurora, 11, and Kayla, 9. Rusty and Leandra have Greyson, 8 months. “They are all incredible, and I am crazy in love with each of my family members!,” Kay declares.

Jim and Kay have always been active in ministry to the local church, serving as nursery workers, Sunday school teachers, youth volunteers, choir members and worship team leaders. “We came to vocational ministry a little later in life. In our late 30s, Jim was hired as youth pastor at our church. After two years full time, we moved to another city for Jim to serve as associate and music pastor. In 1999, we moved back to Flagstaff to plant a church, Northland Christian Assembly, where we have been since,” Kay explains.

Kay was appointed as Arizona District Women’s Ministries Director in 2008. She is also a credentialed minister with the Assemblies of God.

One of Kay’s loves is travel, which has included trips to Botswana (including a photo safari in South Africa!), India, Israel, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Romania, and China. She looks forward to more travel as the National Women’s Ministries Director.

Kay concludes, “My greatest desire is to love my family well, and to love God passionately and faithfully, and to love others as Christ does. My prayer is that those who know me best love me most, and that God enables me to be authentic with everyone and in every situation.

“I also want to influence others to passionately pursue God, press in to knowing Him in deeper ways, and devour His Word every day.”

We welcome Kay to the national Women’s Ministries Department, and know she would appreciate your prayers as ministry to women continues to move forward.
